The no-phone journey

People travel because of many reasons, whether it’s to relieve stress, work, to get away from something/someone, or the simple pleasure of meeting a new place. When the trip is set, the only thing you want to do is relax and have some privacy, but this is a privilege few have.

Nowadays privacy is something most of us are seeking for, but aren’t able to achieve because everything we do, say, think and feel is posted in social media.

Instagram has been the most used social platform (app) for the last 2 years, it is easy to enter and see people posting about their trips all over the world. This creates a desire to be like that person or go to wherever that person is, but not to enjoy the beautiful views and culture of the place, but to take pictures and post them.

What’s the need? The time spent sharing the content can be better used for living life at its fullest on a first person experience rather than through a screen. Enjoy the moment!

We love to take pictures to “remember”  the scenery just as it was, but we still edit them and put them on a story for other people to see, nevertheless it has been proven that social media reduces memory and presents a distorted view on reality which we end up believing.

During your next vacation pay more attention to your surroundings, try not recording everything you eat or taking a selfie with every outfit you bought, in fact, try not using your cellphone at all! Not even to open Google Maps, use your senses, investigate, create, you’ll feel a lot better and much more at peace.

My recommendation, go to an island with no signal at all !!
