This is the airport with the shortest runway: 400 meters!

Each time the air traffic is more intense. Thousands of planes cross the skies daily to transport millions of passengers to all parts of the world. Although airports have improved their infrastructure over the years, and planes have become the safest means of transportation, flying can still lead to major complications for pilots.

Arriving by air to Saba, a small Caribbean island belonging to the Netherlands, is a challenge for pilots. The 13-square-kilometer island has the smallest commercial airstrip in the world. The Juancho E. Yrausquin airport, only has 400 meters of asphalt for landing, that's why it is considered the smallest, and most dangerous airport in the world.

There hasn't been any accidents, but still, the risk is very high. So high, that pilots of the planes that operate routes to Saba, must pass a special course in order to land in the terminal. In addition, not all aircraft can reach the island, as only the BN-2 and a Caravan are capable of performing the maneuvers to land without any problem.

The airport not only has a small and narrow takeoff runway, but it is surrounded by cliffs and high hills that overlook the sea that makes the take-off and landing maneuver very complicated. The airfield was built on one of the only paved areas of the island, and It mixes difficulty with exceptional views.

An exciting landing in which you'll see Saba island surrounded by clouds, and the Caribbean waters, getting closer and closer.

If you are an adrenaline lover, you can't miss it! It's something amazing!
