Forget Bulk Berlin, Mega Munich or Huge Hamburg, the big cities don't compare to these magical towns in Germany. Size and popularity isn't all that matters, what does, is the incomparable feeling of being in peace.
1.- ROSTOCK
The Hanseatic city of Germany is almost 800 years old and it has a population of 199,868 habitants. It is the largest in the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and just a kilometer away from the city lies what most tourists and locals would call Germany's best beach.
Rostock is the perfect stop on your list to enjoy a mild summer climate, forests, and amazing food along the way.
2.- ERFURT
Erfurt is one of the most well-preserved towns in the country, located 300 km south-west of Berlin
This a place to relax and take a walk, pictures won't be enough to take in all the beauty of the many examples of medieval, neoclassical and GDR architecture that surround it.
3.- ULM
A city with a population of 120,000, situated halfway between Stuttgart and Munich. One of the city’s claim to fame is as the hometown of Albert Einstein. Aside from that, beauty and personality are both within the town, it’s a pleasant location to spend a day visiting its culinary sites and being with cero preoccupations.
4.- BERCHTESGADEN
If you are looking for a cold getaway, the mountainous village of Berchtesgaden is a favorite, famous for its incredible and unique alpine landscapes. If you are a person who likes outdoor activities, you can enjoy many of them such as skiing, sailing, fishing, hiking, cycling, etc.
You'll also find a hiking trail which leads directly to Lake Funten, the coldest corner of Germany.
